A collection of poems inspired by navigating through mental illness, loss and love with themes of redemption, inner strength, recovery and healing.
I wrote undertow through my young adult years while I navigated the mental health system. I reflected on what the trauma made of me, and what I made of the trauma. I wrote about the first time I found love that didn't hurt, and wrote of the days that felt like sunshine.
Undertow is a journey through the madness. I didn't hold back, because I think this journey is one that needs to be recognized as so many of us struggle in the dark alone.
I want to break the stigma. We don't have to struggle alone.
